The act of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.

Jude, I really like your quote. It covers the guided meditation that I posted which is all about a leaf falling to the ground in Autumn. Thank you for reminding us all of how much specialness there is in all the common things we take for granted.

May you have a blessed weekend with many signtings of your beloved buzzards.

Yes, I thought it was relevant to some of the recent posts.

Heard on a recorded radio program found on the web.

"I was going into my bank yesterday when a man coming out said, "Isn't it a beautiful day?"

I replied, Yes, but do you know what? If you didn't have that beauty within you, you wouldn't have seen it."

Father Charles Moore.

Dear Jude . . .
I loved this quote like the other one on another thread. It's so true. It takes beauty within to see beauty without.
Tell me about the buzzards . . .
with love . . .

Thank you for the 'Quotes' in this forum. They are uplifting & bring truth at the same time.
Timely wisdom reigns supreme. Words can make a spirit soar, or plummet a spirit to the
depths of hell.

May we all be part of the change we want to see in the world ... today. Not a pie in the
sky lethargy, but a sense of righteousness born out of communion within our own soul
with God. Humble is the one who in silence is patient, kind, & loving.

Peace
C.L.

Dear Sparrow, seeing your question about my buzzards made me wonder if you thought they were mine!! I've written quite a lot on here about them, and I'm sure everyone is bored
Last year I had been watching the newly-fledged ones and listening to their squeaky calls, (normally the adult common buzzard has a beautiful liquid and plaintive call) when I was aware of their absense. I read a few days later in the local press that 2 buzzards had been found poisoned and I voiced my sadness and anger at such an act, on the Forum. I remember Betty wasn't sure about the 'niceness' of buzzards at all and suddenly everyone was Googling them!!!
I admit I do go on a bit about them, but they are special to me, and largely ignored here except to moan about them. They don't do anything bad as far as I know as their main food is rabbits which need to be kept in check anyway. Game breeders don't like them and farmers imagine they do all sorts of heinous things, just like foxes. I get really mad, as the animal is only following it's instinct.......it isn't 'bad.' Whereas, any form of farming including game breeding is not natural at all.
The golden eagle is my power animal, and as we don't have any where I live, buzzards are my 'little eagles.'
I feel priveleged to live in a place where there is so much wildlife to watch.
You will find my posts and pictures about buzzards dotted all around the Forum

Love, Jude

Hello dear Jude . . .
No, I didn't actually think the buzzards were yours, but you mentioned them often and I knew there must be some personal significance.
Your story of them being poisoned broke my heart--it especially distresses me to hear of other creatures being killed by humans with such cruelty. Why do people do such things? I am pleased that you have taken them to heart. It is funny to think of everyone on the forum running to google the buzzards!
I think it is a wonderful thing that they now represent your power animal . . . like little eagles! Thank you so much for telling me your story. Now, whenever I see a buzzard (we don't have many of them here) I will think of you. I do have an artificial buzzard, actually bought it from a store selling Halloween things about five years ago. For how cheap it was it is amazingly real looking. It has black feathers, white maribu around the "collar", and a lovely bald, pink head with bright shiny eyes. Size is about as big as an American basketball, not including the neck and head. I brought him out of the closet last week to put in the hall in celebration of Halloween. I'll never look at him the same way! Have a beautiful weekend, and enjoy your scenery and wildlife. I too, love the creatures I see here regularly.
with love . . .

Sparrow, what a shame your buzzard is bald!!! The real thing thankfully isn't.
Here is another picture, this time of a common buzzard with a sea eagle. (hopefully...fingers crossed it works)

Sparrow, what a hoot!!

I would definitely NOT welcome vultures into my backyard!!!!!!!!! My cats would make a good snack for them.

Jude . . . My head is fairly spinning . . . so many people online at the forum at one time. And this is the day when I cannot linger here. Yours is the last post I can look at before I have to go.
It is like a great gathering of wonderful spirits!
Yes, my cats would be a good snack for the vultures...hawks too. They have been known to make a fast food lunch for hawks . . . one reason they no longer go outdoors anymore!
with love, and with love to all . . .
I truly wish I could linger . . .

I have come accross 2 quotes from Catherine Ponder recently, this coming by email to me this morning. I read a book by her many years ago on Forgiveness and it's effects, and it made a strong impression on me, but until now I couldn't remember her name. She was the first person I heard explaining how forgiveness, even at a distance and even without the other person knowing, could bring about changes for the good. More "thoughts are energy."

"When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free."
-- Catherine Ponder

another quote from Jack Kornfield . . .
"We do not possess our home, our children, or even our own body.
They are only given to us for a short while to treat with care and respect."

Love is the ocean which accepts all manner of rivers without questioning their origin.

Thank you, Jude.

True and well said. It can serve as a touchstone, too: if the ocean questions the origin of a river, it is most likely NOT love. How much of what is called love really deserves this name, anyway?  Do you happen to know the author of this quote?

Hi Juliana, no I don't know the author. It just came to me via email this morning from www.thougthfortoday.org.uk it's talking of unconditional love of course, and if it is conditional, then it isn't love.

It reminds me of the one which says, "Love alters not when it alteration finds" or something like that.

Jude
