Let me go back to the commandment of "Liebe Deinen Nächsten wie Dich selbst" (in German for you, Betty) - "Love your neighbor as yourself". What has been pointed to is, of course, most important. There are people who will say that they find it impossible to love others as they do not, cannot love themselves. - To round up the theme, though, I would like to add what has been giving me food for thought ever since I came across it. - Martin Buber, translating the passage from Hebrew into German, presents this version: "Liebe deinen Nächsten - er ist wie Du" - "Love your neighbor - he is like you". To me, this paves the way to love, reminding us that we are well capable of love, as on the deepest level we are all alike. The differences between us are negligible, they do not count when it comes to loving. Basically we all have the same needs, cravings, fears... (I can only hope this will come across as I mean it - following my German patterns of thinking ). Juliana _____________________________ Speak Peace in a World of Conflict
