Hello Wendy and others,

it´s beautiful to see how our candles in the group "NOSMO" light for more and more people, who want to give up smoking.
For me this way is not always easy, even not always clear, but it is very precious for me. Every day without smoking makes it more precious.

Lovely regards to all of you.

For me and others it worked with this candle group.
And it´s like a wonder: You don´t need these stinking sticks anymore...

Be hopefull

Hello,

imagine your twelf-year-old girl smoking behind your back...

Please visit our group "nosmo" and light a candle for persons, who want or should stop smoking, because it hurts them very badly.

Me I stopped 4 months ago with the help of this group and I am very grateful for that. Believe me, life is much more joy without smoking.

Thank you for your support,

love Marie

Hello,
do you want to stop smoking or do you know a person, who wants to stop it? Or do you want to pray for young people, that they will never start it?

Please light a candle in:

http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=nosmo

I stopped smoking nearly seven month ago and this candle group helped me through the time.

Love to you

Marie

Dear Dove, good for you! You do have every reason to stop smoking, but it is not easy. The "nosmo" candle group is in support of people like you who want to stop. Even though I never smoked I light candles there because I am so concerned for all who smoke and what it does to their health.
Wishing you success,
Edda

Hi Dove,
I wish you every success in giving up smoking and will certainly light candles for you.
My son smoked for several years, and he has athsma, so you can guess how I felt about it!
Even now, some years after giving up, he is still coughing up the brown stuff, so please try hard.
And if anyone reading this is ever tempted to start smoking I hope they will change their minds.   J

Dear Dove:

I quit smoking thirty-one years after I started, on June 24, 2002. I remember the day because I was graced with a great miracle, awesome in its scope. God allowed me to see the immediate future in order to know I was putting out my last cigarette.

Quitting smoking is very, very difficult, and had I not been the recipient of such a spectacular miracle, I would probably still be smoking. But, just to let you know what I experienced, the urges to smoke will come less and less frequently, and the life I imagined I could not live without cigarettes, I'm living now, and with much more joy. Also, I took up water, and instead of a cigarette, I started carrying a bottle of cold water around with me. That might help.

Well, I've rattled on long enough. I just hope and pray that you will be granted a miracle as well. And, if you need some support from someone who knows what you're going through, you can count on me.

With love,
Emil

I'm a nonsmoker, but I support your effort.

Smoking is so addictive and so hard to quit. (I'm having a horrible time just dieting... I can't imagine how hard kicking the smoking habit must be!)

Here's to all of the smokers that are trying to stop!  You will be so heathly!
You can put the $$ you are spending on cigs to better use.  Bless you.

Dear Dove,

maybe it´s a long process to quit smoking, but in the end it is very simple. First you have to fight a lot, but on day you don´t miss it at all.
Please don´t give up. Maybe it helps you to light a candle every day...

Love

Marie

Dear Marie, thank you so much for your kind words, I am still trying to stop smoking.  I lit a candle for all the children of the world that they never light their first cigarette. (My son was born in Augsburg, Germany so I feel a kinship to you already.  Thanks again, Dove

Hello,
I read that in Germany there are double so much smokers like in the States. How can we follow this good way of America? How can we prevent our children from smoking? How can we live without any addictions even when we are troubled and stressed?

Dear Marie, there is no easy answer. The harmful effects of smoking are well known. The laws about smoking in restaurants and in public places vary from state to state. Here in Illinois the laws now forbid smoking in public places and pretty soon in most restaurants. Some smokers feel discriminated against and tend to make light of the effect smoking has on those exposed. Cigarettes have become very expensive, which does not stop those addicted from smoking. Perhaps children are less likely able to afford them. How to stop them from starting is the greatest challenge, since those who started early have a much more difficult time stopping than others. It would be important that in movies and television programs smoking would not be modeled. At some point one would hope that among young people smoking would no longer be considered "cool". All this is much easier to say than do!
What can an individual do? Support those who try to stop smoking, work for a change in public policies regarding where smoking is permissible. Healthcare professionals and those in related professions have a special opportunity to discuss this with those under their care.
As you may guess, as a physician I feel very strongly about all this.

Wishing you everthing good and success in reducing smoking,
Edda

Hi every one; I just wanted to join in on this subject of smoking,I gave up smoking 15 years ago,I also drank which I do not feel addictions are hard to break,I am the weakest link in history and I just made up my mind to quit, I also used the patch which was three programs I made it on two. Thats only my opinion though, some people read the 12 & 12 steps I used it mostly for my own daily living. There's absolutely no smoking any where in public or resturants in Massachusetts, the gov.said on TV they put a drug in cigs.so people will smoke more. I often wonder what we would be like if we were perfect what would the world be like?
