Dear Jude, Lori and Leanda,

Thank you all for your continuous encouragement and support! Leon was transferred today but nothing much else happened. We do have to deal with some skin problems again which is frustrating. I hope tomorrodw more physical therapy will begin.

Much love,
Edda

Edda, Dear, know that you and Leon are in our hearts and prayers. Dear One, as cold as it is supposed to be by Friday, if Leon is still in the Hospital, please, get a friend to drive you instead of walking. I don't remember seeing a hospital particularly close to where you live. Take care of you.

Dear Edda,
I would echo all that Betty says. The carer is often the most stressed & needs lots of TLC.[;)]

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/17/2008 9:41:29 PM)

Dear Betty and Jude, thank you for caring about me!

Betty, Leon is at St. Joseph's Hospital at Diversey and Lake Shore Drive, that is three blocks north and a couple more east from us, just a 15 to 20 minute walk from our house. Land's End has some excellent outerware for weather like the one predicted! It isn't so much the cold, but the wind!

Leon is already practicing walking up stairs. He is so anxious to get home that he is trying to overdo it!

Much love to you,
Edda

Edda Dear
Lands End or not the Lake wind is unforgiving as it thrashes Chicago with it's icy slivers....
I have had the experience a time or two ask for a ride.It was most challenging especially waiting for the bus off North Ave by Moody Bible whew!!!!! I'm praying for both your and Leons continued recovery and his temperance to not overdo and backslide...

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/18/2008 12:17:55 AM)

Thank you, Barbara! Yes, there are some especially windy intersections. Sometimes it is easier to walk than to stand and wait for a bus!
You yourself stay warm!!!

Much love, Edda

Vicky -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/18/2008 8:32:30 PM)

Edda, Leon is already practicing walking stairs? I bet he is so happy just to be on his feet and stairs - wow!! a miracle so quickly.  You stay WARM. This weekend the windy city will live up to its name!
Take Care. Love, Vicky

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/18/2008 10:28:44 PM)

Thank you, Vicky! Everyone is amazed how quickly Leon is progressing. Tonight his operated leg was very swollen, bothering us, not him! He will get more rest over the weekend!

Have a great weekend!
Much love,  Edda

Imenuff -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/19/2008 11:58:53 PM)

Edda, dear, prayers continue for you and Leon. Hopefully the swelling has gone down and you have given Edda some care and quiet time. Please take as good of care of Edda as you do of Leon.
Hugs and prayers,

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/20/2008 8:24:56 AM)

Thank you, Betty! The swelling went down a little and I hope it will diminish even more today. I had some brisk walks to and from the hospital yesterday. Land's End did keep me warm!

Have a great Sunday,
Love,  Edda

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/21/2008 10:22:45 PM)

Thank you, Leanda!

Today we were told that the planned discharge day for Leon is next week Wednesday. He would like to go home sooner, but he needs to build up his endurance, and things have to be adjusted at home for him to be able to observe the hip precautions.

We are so very grateful for all the good wishes, prayers and candles,

Much love,
Edda

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/22/2008 8:49:11 AM)

Thank you so much, Betty!

Greetings from snowy Chicago!

Love, Edda

Marie M. -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/22/2008 9:01:39 AM)

Edda, so happy to hear Leon will be home next week. Continued prayers and candles for both of you.

Please be careful in travelling to the hospital today. We have had at least 4-5 inches of thick snow blanketing everything here. It may be less by you. Clean up maybe slower in some places.

My best to Leon.
Marie
