Edda, I am so glad to hear that Leon is doing so well and that he is expected to go home next week. He is recovering very quickly.
You be careful walking to and from the hospital. It is very cold out and the sidewalks are very slippery.  Continued good health to the both of you!
Love, Vicky

Dear Marie, Jude and Vicky,

Thank you all for your prayers, candles and concern. As I said before I am overwhelmed by the kindness of so many!!!

Marie, I woke up to 4 - 5 inches of snow and spent the first early morning hour shoveling! The snow was powdery and the temperature moderate. This evening it is much colder again with a biting wind! Well, this is winter in Chicago. We just got spoiled by rather mild ones in the past few years.

Love to all,
Edda

Marie M. -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/22/2008 9:25:51 PM)

Hi Edda, There was quite a bit of snow. Don't over do the shoveling. Light snow can still be heavy. I shoveled the driveway this morning and later went out and did by the street where the street plow blocks me in. By that time it was getting much colder. Keep warm.

Marie

Dear Edda,
Here's hoping you and Leon stay safe and warm!!!
If there's still ice around,Use caution when walking
up sidewalks or steps that maybe slick. Also if
you travel anywhere use caution. Hope
the weather isn't too bad up there!!!

Thankful one -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/23/2008 11:22:06 PM)

Edda,
Glad you and Leon are both doing well. Remember that only one person in a couple should be in the hospital at any one time. I second what Happy Face said, please keep yourself safe on the ice.

Wishing you a breal in the weather and for Leon's continued progress until he is safely home once again.

One of your many devoted friends and a loyal member of your fan club.

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/24/2008 8:25:12 AM)

Dear Thankful one, thank you for your continuing support. I did not know I had a "fan club", but I am most grateful for all the friends who have been with me - us - so patiently during this long haul. Today I am even grateful that Leon is in the hospital and not already home since the motor of the furnace blower has stopped blowing. Our trusty furnace man will be here later this morning (he answered the phone at 7:00AM!). Also two therapists are coming from the hospital to assess what modifications are needed before Leon comes home. I'll be careful on the ice. I am glad I shoveled the snow last night before the temperature plunged again!

Much love,  Edda

Marie M. -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/24/2008 9:00:55 AM)

Hello Edda. I am sorry to hear that your furnace blower has gone out, but it must have been a relief that the repairman had answered the early morning call.
You do have a "fan club" , not by chance I would think. But maybe because you can fill the role, and do so very compassionately.

Keep warm until the repairman arrives. My best to you and Leon. Keeping you both in my prayers.

God Bless
Marie

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/24/2008 9:12:33 AM)

Thank you, Marie! I am on my way to church for morning mass (and to warm up!)

Much love,  Edda

Imenuff -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/24/2008 10:24:02 AM)

[:(][:(][:(]Edda, Dear, I just had to start out with the sad faces when I read again about your snow. Perhaps it is necessary to return to Chicago at least once a month for its snow. All that there has been here is merely a "dusting" and not even worthy to be called a heavy "dusting". I am glad Leon has not gotten home yet with the furnace going out. Hopefully by noon today you will be warm and toasty again. (Our morning Mass begins at 6 a.m. and that definitely would not be the place to warm up). Do be careful and be sure to take care of you. Prayers and candles continue.

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/24/2008 10:54:09 AM)

Thank you, Betty!
You are welcome to return ANY time you need to see and feel some snow!!

Love,  Edda

artemis611 -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/25/2008 9:03:26 AM)

Edda, I'm definitely part of your fan club too!  We're supposed to have above-freezing temps today and a nice weekend, so I'm hoping our warmer weather will be coming your direction soon!  It appears to be headed that way!

Love,
Lori

Vicky -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/25/2008 8:54:02 PM)

Edda, I am part of your "fan club" too!!  We got a couple more inches of snow our here in the burbs. Temps should be in the 40's over the weekend. It bet it is alot colder & windy in the city. Take care and try to stay warm. Tell Leon don't be in a rush to get home, tell him to take his time and learn all of the tricks the physical therapists show him (getting up, sitting down etc.)  Bless & Leon.
Love, Vicky

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/25/2008 10:07:33 PM)

Thank you, Vicky! We, too, are blessed with a bit more snow (I don't know how much if any will be added over night) - just enough to make the sidewalks slippery!  It did warm up after a very frigid morning. My house is toasty warm! The next project is to get rails installed around the bathtub and up the stairway  - before next Wednesday! Wouldn't it be nice if one could get the people from "Ask This Old House", the program on WTTW?

Have a blessed weekend,
Love,  Edda

Edda, A time for changing things around the house with anticipation of homecoming. Leon will feel so good to be home again and walking.
I have found there are many times of myself needing a handyman to do even the smallest of chores. I've been trying a little harder with my tools, especially the screwdriver and putting many things together after Christmas with the tiniest screws I could hardly see least alone get them in places that were not all drilled. If you get the handyman from "This Old House" send him my way, please.

The snow has been light so far into the evening. I shoveled this evening about 2 inches. Very light snow. It was a breeze comapared to the 5 inches of the other day. Warmer weather on the way.
30 or 40 sounds tropical after the weather we have had.

Keeping you both in my prayers.

Marie

Hildegard -> RE: Edda and Leon (1/26/2008 9:07:13 AM)

Dear Barbara and Marie,

Thank you for your messages!

I've just come in from shoveling another lot of snow that must have fallen during the night, because late in the evening there was very little of that white stuff. A few warm days are in the forecast!

Have a great weekend,

Love,  Edda

A few years back,I recall that my aunt who died from
renal failure,Told me that if I ever was scared or
afraid something such as bad weather, family problems
or illness to read Psalm 23 in the Holy Bible and then
recite it.To this day I do that and it helps,Alot!

Perhaps you should try it, Doesn't hurt to have a little faith!
