T.O. I'm not even going to try and watch the video until I'm on Broadband, but Bob Marley's "Don't worry 'bout a thing" is one of the songs we circle dance to.

Actually, it's appropriate for me tonight as I do have some things to worry about, so had better start singing, "ev'ry little thing gonna be alright,.......don't worry"

Jude, P.S. sorry you didn't win the Elvis competition.[:D]

Joe,
These ARE the most precious videos I have ever seen.

The interaction between humans and animals is something I have never seen.

Everyone should go to somewhere that they have enough bandwidth to watch these videos. It's worth a trip to a library or a friend's house or somewhere where you can watch these.

Thank you Joe for such a wonderful present. It's no wonder that this is the most attended exhibition of art by a living artist in the history of the world. 8 million people. Tremendous.

Good, dear, sweet, gentle, kind and loving folks,

Thanks to all who have recently connected with me publicly and privately. It means a lot to me.

A dear friend sent me this song and it really touched my heart in a very special way. It helps heal me tonight.

It's about love and loss and gratefulness. I highly recommend this video more than any other I have ever posted.

Its a duet from the movie Pocahantas.

By the way, the first video itself is crummy and I recommend closing your eyes and just listening to this version of the song.

Hal Ketchum and Shelby Lynne - vocalists [In other songs, Shelby records with Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crowe]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AW71x1O2v4

This is the video from the movie Pocahantas. Nice video but not my favorite singing. Performed by Mel Gibson (!) and Judy Kuhn.

Pocahontas - "If I Never Knew You"

A nice slow respectful version with good vocals.

Jon Secada & Shanice - If I Never Knew You (Official Video)

The upbeat dance version of the song for the younger set from three lady singers.

Cheetah Girls - If I Never Knew You

The words are below for the video challenged and those who like to read while the music plays.

If I never knew you,
If I never felt this love,
I would have no inkling of,
How precious love can be.

And if I never held you,
I would never have a clue,
How at last I'd find in you,
The missing part of me.

In this world so full of fear,
Full of rage and lies.
I can see the truth so clear,
In your eyes, so dry your eyes.

And I'm so grateful to you.
I'd have lived my whole life through.
Lost forever,
If I never knew you.

If I never knew you,
I'd be safe but half as real.
Never knowing I could feel,
A love so strong and true.

And I'm so grateful to you.
I'd have lived my whole life through.
Lost forever,
If I never knew you.

I thought our love would be so beautiful;
Somehow we made the whole world bright.
I never thought that fear and hate could be so strong.
All they'd leave us were these whispers in the night,
But still my heart is saying, we were right.

If I nev er knew you;
(There's no moment I regret.)
If I never knew this love.
(Since the moment that we met.)
I would have no inkling of,
(If our time has gone too fast.)
How precious life can be.
(I've lived at last...)

I thought our love would be so beautiful;
Somehow we made the whole world bright.
I thought our love would be so beautiful,
We'd change the darkness into light.
But still my heart is saying, we were right.

And If I never knew you,
I'd have lived my whole life through.
Empty as the sky, never knowing why.
Lost forever.

If I never knew you.

Or should it be, "Videos that need watching"

Richard, thank you so much for posting this video link. I had received the pictures in an email but have been unable to post pictures
possibly because I use a MAC. This truly is a video that needs watching.

Thank you for this, too, Richard.

It really is a must. And it doesn´t apply to the US only!

Richard,
Awesome video. Truly awesome work.

Thank you for sharing this. I think the point of his video was about "feeling".

I think this site does much to help avoid the "anesthesia" of culture and help us "feel" okay with oursleves without breast augmentation, Vicodin or whatever.

I have always like Bob Seger's songs. The video is only one picture but the music is soft and sweet.

Bob Seger - Against the Wind

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playlng low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove

And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin'
Against the wind

And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded bv strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin'
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind

Well those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still runnin against the wind
Well I'm older now and still
Against the wind

I like this song

The Eagles - Desperado

"Desperado"

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late

Jude, it is so good that you have broadband. Thank you for sharing these with all of us and may all of the blessings return to you a hundred fold.

buttington -> RE: Videos which are uplifting... (7/12/2008 5:42:51 PM)

I really needed this one myself tonight. Going back to look again at the ones I posted, I found this one! Another by Pierre Pradavand, from his book, "The Gentle Art of Blessing." This video is a potted version of the book, and describes perfectly why I found it so inspiring.
However, I do need reminding frequently!!!![:D] Enjoy.

J1937 -> RE: Videos which are uplifting... (7/13/2008 2:23:35 AM)

Thank you for this, Jude!

It seems we all need being reminded, at least I do!
The video reminds me of a text which I received and feel I should share with you:

In that first hardly noticed moment in which you wake,
coming back to this life from the other
more secret, moveable and frighteningly honest world
where everything began,
there is a small opening into the new day
which closes the moment you begin your plans.

What you plan is too small for you to live.
What you can live whole-heartedly will make plans enough
for the vitality hidden in your sleep.

To be human is to become visible
while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others.
To remember the other world in this world
is to live your true inheritance.

You are not a troubled guest on this earth,
you are not an accident amidst other accidents,
you were invited from another and greater night
than the one from which you have just emerged.

Now, looking through the slanting light of the morning window
toward the mountain presence of everything that can be
what urgency calls you to your one love?
What shape waits in the seed of you
to grow and spread its branches
against a future sky?

- David Whyte 1999
