I’m very thankful for prayer, and finding a way to peace. I’m new on the journey but it’s shaping up to be better than the one I was on. It wasn’t even a year ago that I became so overcome with anxiety and depression I tried to take my own life. Of course I had to be hospitalized and committed for a little while and I almost lost everything. I was diagnosed with what the psychiatrist called “one of the worst cases of OCD” he’d ever seen. Shortly after that though I found God and turned my life over to his hands. I thank God every day I didn’t succeed in my attempt and I am now thankful for every minute. I’m very glad I found prayer. Sometimes those old feelings try to come back. Especially at work, because of the nature of my occupation. I’m a funeral director. But now I’ve even started using that as an example of why I should be thankful. I’m alive, I can pray, and my God hears me. Yes, it’s good to be here.

Joshua,
I appreciate all that you share with us here. As a friend of mine told me, there are a lot worse thngs than being mentally ill (not that you are). They also tell me that any nap is better than a dirt nap (our expression for being dead).

When I have a bad day, I watch the video on this website A Good Day. I found that it is like good emotional preventive medicine and I try to start each day watching the video. It has really helped keep my mental/emotional focus on the things I can do something about. The other thing that never fails to pick up my mood is exercise.

I hope and pray that you continue to have better days. I wish you the best.

Thankful one

Joshua, I'm glad you're here and that you've taken some really big steps to make your life a better and happier place.  This forum is a great place to be as a frequent reminder to good things in every day.

Lori
