Thanks for posting those pictures George!  They're really beautiful and it's nice to see such colours in the middle of winter.

This is the place I'd like to send Edda and Leon (when they are ready) and everyone else who needs a break from the bleak winter cold weather.

This photo reminds me that if you see things from a different perspective, sometimes there is unexpected beauty revealed.

A beautiful picture of a velvety textured ruffled purple gloxinia.

Dear Thankful one, thank you for all these beautiful pictures. Yes, it would be fun to get away to a nice, warm place without a care in the world! One can always dream!

Love,  Edda

A scilla, sometimes called a squill, flower. They can be pink, white or blue. The translucence of the petals is amazing and the colors are vivid without overwhelming.

Purple water lily. Brilliant, lovely and a large number of petals for a wonderful shape and a complimentary color combination.

Flowers, in my mind, are not an optional item; flowers are a requirement for sane living. Flowers help keep our eyes open to the incredible beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. Being able to see the detail of the blue center is a delight.

I hope you enjoy these flowers as much as I have enjoyed sending them to you. Finding these photos helps me to keep my eyes on beauty and has become a delightful meditative experience for me.

Bordeaux blue water lily is simply luminescent almost as if lit by some deep inner light.

I wanted to send some golden energy to all suffering from the mid-winters doldrums.

I love the amazingly intricate detail you can see at this magnification.

Mexican Shell flower or Tigridia about 3 inches across. I love how the simple shapes with clearly defined colors make a compelling statement that beauty does not have to be complicated to be beautiful.

Thankful One, I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed your flower pictures.  I've been experiencing winter doldrums this year.  I don't mind the cold, and the gray skies have their own beauty along with the bare trees.  But we've had so much of that.  I'm ready for sunshine, and bright color.  Your flower pictures are "just the ticket" for now.  Thank you!

Lori

Thankful One, This morning I showed your flower photos to my neighbor, who is a great gardener and knows everything about orchids. He was able to name all the single flowers. I forgot to lead him to this new thread, though - so that will follow tomorrow. Thanyofosmuccolo!!!

Jessica, what an intriguing Forum name you have! Is there an interesting origin to it?
