The vibration of a cat's purr can speed up the healing process not only for cats but for other animals as well. Research indicates that even humans can benefit.
If you are recovering from an injury, you should hug a purring cat. Consistent vibrational sound frequencies of 25-150 Hz, which is the range of a cat’s purr, aid in the healing of bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles, as well as providing pain relief.
Why Cats Purr
Purring would not have evolved unless it provided some sort of survival advantage. It is commonly assumed that cats purr to express contentment, but this does not explain why cats also purr when giving birth, frightened or severely injured.
Healing After Injury
Cats’ bones heal faster and more easily after fractures than those of dogs. Veterinary medicine researchers note that 90% of cats that plummet from extraordinary heights survive despite serious injuries. There is also evidence that cats are less likely to suffer postoperative complications after surgery than dogs. This rapid healing ability may be attributable to purring.

From the back these 3 black cats look just like my 3 'babies' before I lost the biggest of them, Timmie. the one in the middle looks like Blackberry, who is unwell now, and the one on the left looks like their sister Apple who is very well at the moment.
Black cats are very beautiful and I've had 6 who have all been fabulous pets.

Dear Jude,

Thank you for the information about purring! I, too, love black cats. One neighbor had one who loved smoked pork chops. She used to come into our house and sleep on my lap for hours. Unfortunately she disappeared one day. Perhaps someone stole her because she was such a loving cat. Another neighbor had one who was extremely shy to begin with but then became one of the most affectionate cats I have known.

This morning I am grateful for receiving pictures of little Julius. He is the brother of Maija who died about a year and a half ago of leukemia. She had been an only child. Julius brought new life into the family to the delight of all.

Edda,
I too lost one of my little black cats when she disappeared. She was extremely affectionate and the only one who would stay around to make a fuss of passers by. I'm convinced someone took a fancy to her. She was less that 2 years old and she adored me and I her. It must be about 11 years ago now, but I still miss her.

Great news about Julius isn't it.

Today I am very grateful to hear I am to get a small bequest. It means I can help someone else too which makes it even better. I need a newer computer and my friend who's job is computer maintenance, needs a new one. So I will buy his present one which means he will have funds to buy himself a new one. Money-go-round.

Jude

Today I am grateful to appreciate the exquisite beauty in allowing myself to feel my pain.

Without pain and knowing it, there can be no joy.

Pain is part of being human. It is part of the

I have spent my life running from it as if it if caught me I would certainly die or feel horrible or something like being out of control.

Now I am sitting with my deepest pain and surviving.

Now I know that you can feel heart wrenching pain without wallowing. Now I know that denying pain is denying the beauty of life in all it's glory.

I feel like the pain is beautiful in the sense that it is an appropriate human response to painful situations. Pain is beautiful the same way all of creation is beautiful.

Roses have thorns and so does life. It hurts when stuck by a thorn but it shouldn't stop me from touching the roses.

Thank you all for loving me so good.

I'm moving and I've got to go.

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

I won't have Internet access for I don't know how long, but I will be back.

Roses are red
Pain is one of life's part
Feeling it without dread
Is how you make a new start.

T.O. Your post speaks volumes. Yes, feeling pain is such a tremendously healthy response to painful situations and and there is such a difference between feeling heart wrenching pain and wallowing in it. Once read a book by the head of the male research psychology unit at Mass General Hospital (Harvard Med School). One of his most quoted lines is that if we don't teach males how to cry tears many will end up "crying" bullets. When we don't allow ourselves to feel our pain, everyone else around us feels our pain because our behavior imposes it upon them. There is an ache inside me as I think of you packing finally and moving on from your home with your family no longer together. I pray that having gone through the "thorns" the sweet smell and velvet touch of the rose flower will help heal the pain caused from all those thorns of this past year.

Vaya con Dios--Go with God, my friend and may you see only one set of footprints. Our love and prayers go with you til we meet again.

To all good, sweet and caring folks,

I am starting to feel the rebirth of my new life take some new forms.

The only way to go from here is up! Let's go!

I send lots of love and light to all on their own journey to become real, as they say in Velveteen Rabbit.

Daily, I try to remember to be as good to myself as I am to others.

T.O. It is good to hear from you, especially the comment about the Velveteen Rabbit. The book was part of my last retreat and contains much wisdom. For those who haven't read it in a long time, it is well worth a reread. You can find it on the internet and download and print it out. Blessings on your future.
