i'm going through a weird portion of time in my life, and there is a person who i like. i just become happy when i am around her and just thinking about brings joy into my mind, but i don't know if she even cares about me at all, what do you suggest doing?

Just start out slowly, don't rush. Perhaps you can do something together with her in a group setting and give her a chance to get to know you. You might simply invite her for a cup of tea or coffee, something informal that would not put any pressure on her. Good luck! I'll keep you in my prayers.
